Paul Smith: A Day in the life of a Fashion Show
A Day in the life of a Fashion Show
A co-production between the British Design Museum and Sony, and made for “Hello. My Name is Paul Smith” – the exhibition at the British Design Museum in London in 2012.
Directing this project was a wonderfully free experience because it came together very quickly with not much time to sweat it. The British Design Museum were staging an exhibition of Paul Smith’s work and wanted a film. Onsight facilities were handling the digital displays for the exhibit and they pitched the idea to Sony who funded it in return for an opportunity to showcase their new 4k TV’s. Onsight then commissioned Coast productions in London who brought me on board at nearly the last minute.
The location for the show was an old school in the centre of Paris and it was stunning, with lots of sunlight pouring in from massive skylights. The U shaped stage made choosing camera angles pretty straight forward, and the great French camera crews were brilliant considering there was only one rehearsal. All up a very enjoyable experience.
